EXPANDED METAL

Expanded metal is a type of affordable sheet metal that is cut and stretched to form a regular pattern of metal mesh-like material. It is cost-effective because a small quantity of metal can be stretched into a large piece with very little waste during processing.

Because expanded metal is one piece, it is an excellent conductor of electricity, magnetic flux and heat. It also allows air and light to move freely. Expanded metal meshes can be combined with glass, concrete, and other materials for added strength.

Expanded metals are also lighter than traditional metal sheets yet support weight and withstand stress better than woven metals or jointed welds. Specially developed meshes can enhance acoustics and provide soundproofing. With diamond sizes that range from .125" x .75” to 1.5” x 3.4”, it can be bond or random sheared. The great thing about expanded metal is that if it is cut on one end the remaining strands hold and won't ravel. Stock sheets of up to 10’ long by 8’ wide are available or as run-to-size orders.
